Now Ask Me a Question I Can't Answer in Two Minutes

God bless the skeptics As part of my column today about "Moving Beyond MAPS," I mentioned its legacy of having spurned more than $2 billion in private investment. I also added "I've done the math and it does add up."

It didn't take long for a reader to question me on this, sending an email asking for a "work sheet" and then responding they would wait with "abaited breath" (the quote marks used by the writer in reference to the phrase baited breath seems to suggest the use of sarcasm."

I responded in two minutes because yes, I have the worksheet but I must add it is a bit outdated as it was last fully updated in 2013 and it looks like we are now closing in on $3 billion. Here is the original email sent to me this morning. I will add that after I sent my response, the reader was properly informed and amused by my response and was very generous in his reaction:

Easy. Add to this list from 2013 the recently opened BOK Park Plaza tower (I estimate it at $400 million, valuation isn’t out yet), the $6 million Condominiums on Broadway, the $70 million West Village development on Film Row, the $54 million 21c Museum Hotel, about $100 million of development in the Steelyard section of east Bricktown … and we are actually approaching $3 billion.

I have written all this repeatedly over the years.

You can breathe now. Have a good day.
