Parties, Etc.: Feb. 18, 2018
Event: A patron party was held in connection with Junior League's Speaker In The City series. Jane Webb was hostess at CK & Co. It was the night before the main event which featured Giuliana and Bill Rancic and a fashion show by CK & Co. Tracey Frederick is JL president.
The bubbly: Derek Nettle of Venue Catering provided cheese, olive and charcuterie on skewers and there were bite-sized appetizers set around the store. Chocolate-covered nuts sprinkled with sea salt from Woody Candy were served on large trays and Champagne was passed. Christi Coyle and Whitney Tatum were special events co-chairmen.
The decor: “Jane's beautiful store was so stunning, no additional decorations were needed,” Chairman Christi Coyle said. “And besides the Champagne, she also provided a gift certificate which was won by the lucky recipient Carolyn Hansing.”
The glam: Junior League women and their guests included Jill Merritt and Amy Crowley, event co-chairmen; Valerie Aubert, Christi Coyle, Sarah Frank, Angie Huffier, Laura Steen, Marnie Taylor, Linda Slawson, Matilda Clements, Ann Trudgeon, Linda Spaeth, Kristen Ferate, Sue Ann Hyde, Sormeh Slater, Hillary Ashton, Laura Steen, and Jen Randle.
Event: Dr. Marion Parke received the Fashion Group International Rising Star Award in Accessories for 2017 at the recent awards banquet in New York City. Parke, a Casady School and University of Oklahoma graduate, is a podiatric surgeon and luxury footwear designer and launched her shoe collection in 2015. The collection features a patent pending insole in upscale pumps, mules, booties, slides and Mary Janes.
About Marion: Parke and her husband, Dr. David Wilkin Parke, a retina surgeon, live in Wayzata, Minnesota, with their two children, Court and Maggie.

CHAPTER FH OF PEO
Occasion: Diane Busby was hostess for the monthly meeting of Chapter FH of PEO. President of the group is Amelia Lyle, but she was out of town so past president Mary Margaret Miller presided. The group meets the first and third Wednesday of each month.
Sweet treats: A mixed berry fruit compote was served along with an assortment of heart-shaped chocolate candies, cookies and cakes and apple cider. The Valentine-themed dessert table featured hearts and a bouquet of red, white and pink roses.
On the town: Speakers for the event were members of the 20-40-60 Etiquette team for The Oklahoman: Callie Athey, Lillie-Beth Brinkman, and Helen Ford Wallace. They fielded a number of current questions from the crowd and told of their experiences with the column for the past 10 years.
Graduation party: Linda and Jerry Barnett were hosts for a graduation party for their granddaughter, Mackenzie Barnett, at the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club. She graduated from Seton Hall College. Guests were friends and family members.
Perfect entertainment: The honoree sang her favorite songs, “Over The Rainbow,” “Auld Lang Syne” and “If You Just Believe.” She was accompanied by David Hillis.

Founder's Day luncheon: Members of the Oklahoma City Chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta held the 148th Founder's Day celebration at the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club. Chairmen were Elizabeth Nordin and Allie Dodson. Active members from the University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University spoke about highlights from their respective chapters.
Theta of the year: LeAnn Lienhard, president, was recognized as Theta of the Year.
50-year-Thetas: The group honored women who were initiated into the sorority 50 years ago. They included Paula Berry, Lee Ann Blood, Margaret Ann Bolen, Gloria Bond, Marsha Butler, Helen Dailey, Gail Daniels, Karlie Harmon, Myrla Mendenhall, Vicki Nelson, Tempie Nichols-Rood, Julie Rankin, Robin Riley, Nancy Rowntree, Terry Sinclair, Cindy Sparling, Jean Spitz, Pamela Twidwell, Nancy Wallace and Harriet Weirich.
75-year Thetas: Also honored were Barbara Keating and Liz Coe. A slideshow presentation about the honorees was shown. Twenty-five-year Thetas were recognized in the program.
Party for art: Works by artists Behnaz Sohrabian and Stella Thomas were on exhibit at the opening reception on First Friday in Paseo at JRB Art at the Elms. Chef Ryan Parrott from Picasso's Café prepared salmon pastrami on rye with cabbage, sweet chili glazed chicken and fruit and cheese.
