The Morning Brew: Oklahomans are getting the flu

Oklahomans are getting the flu

We're barely halfway through December but already flu season is underway in Oklahoma in a major way. Oklahoma falls into Region 6 of the Center for Disease Control's weekly flu surveillance report and it its status is listed as "elevated".

Closer to home, the Oklahoma Department of Health reports 24 flu related hospitalizations in Oklahoma since November 29. New figures are expected to be released today.

The flu forced Yukon's Central Elementary School to temporarily close this week after more than 100 students became sick.

Flu season runs all winter, and into the early spring. Weekly reports are filed by the CDC through May.
