Wizard World Oklahoma City Spotlight: Brian Winkeler
Oklahoma City-area writer Brian Winkeler will launch three new comics at Wizard World Oklahoma City, to be held this weekend at the Cox Convention Center, 1 Myriad Gardens.
The rundown follows.
"I teamed up with local illustrator Sam Washburn and local designer Clint Walkingstick to do a 16-page comic starring crappy action figures we bought at Dollar Tree," Winkeler said. "We’ll be selling the book as well as packages that include the book, an action figure, and fun swag like stickers and pins."
"I’ve been marinating the idea of Kenny G and Michael Bolton as secret agents in 1987 for a few years now and I finally found a killer young artist, Trevor Fraley out of NJ, to bring it to life," Winkeler said. "This one’s 12 pages and it’s got some potential interest from a writer/producer friend of mine (Eric Rogers, who worked on Futurama and is now showrunner of Skylanders Academy on Netflix) to develop as an animated series pitch."
DECEMBO, THE POWERFUL
"My 9-year-old Hugh wrote this story a while back and I’m illustrating it (more of a storybook than a comic). He’ll be with me at the con a little bit and will be signing copies."
Oklahoma City is the 15th event scheduled on the 2017 Wizard World calendar.
Show hours are Friday, October 27, 4-9 p.m.; Saturday, October 28, 10 a.m.-7 p.m.; Sunday, October 29, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Kids 10 and under are admitted free with paid adult.
