Marvel Legacy one-shot brings back classic characters

Marvel's one-shot comic book "Legacy," kicking off its latest publishing initiative, hit comic shops today, and early reaction has skewed positive from fans and review sites.

Written by Jason Aaron ("Wolverine") with art by Esad Ribic and others, the issue starts with the Avengers of 1,000,000 B.C. before shifting to the present as the current avatars of those concepts find themselves targeted.

There are lots of cool reveals in the issue and returns of classic characters. Fans who felt Marvel had lost their way in recent months will likely find something to be excited about in this return to form.

Johnny Storm and Ben Grimm of the Fantastic Four meet up, as Ben Grimm sends up the flare that calls the team to action.  The missing Fantastic Four has caused a lot of ruckus among fans -- the FF were the cornerstone of the early Marvel Universe -- and hints toward their eventual return to the regular pages of Marvel Comics will likely excite longtime fans.

Some other cool moments:

- The original Wolverine appears to have returned, and now has in his possession an Infinity Gem.

- A redhead known for her links to Logan appears to be back as well.

- Look closely at the Avengers statue...

- Can the Star Brand become a cool, key part of Marvel history? May be time to go get those New Universe comics.

- Black Panther has a space empire! This is amazing. Looking forward to seeing what becomes of this.

- Steve Rogers (Captain America), Odinson (Thor) and Tony Stark (Iron Man) all have teases to their current status quos that look to be explained further in their own solo titles.

- Loki is, unsurprisingly, up to no good...

What were your favorite moments from the issue? Does "Legacy" get Marvel's legacy right?
