OKC man arrested in online sting operation
An Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs Control agent posed as a 14-year-old boy looking for sex on Craigslist as part of an online sting operation that netted the arrest of an Oklahoma City man this week.
Harry Dean Wheeler Jr., 64, of Oklahoma City, was arrested earlier this week on suspicion of enticement of a minor, according to a criminal charge filed Thursday in Oklahoma City federal court.
Wheeler allegedly responded to a Craigslist ad titled "Looking for a Daddy" posted by law enforcement. The undercover Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics agent posed as a teenage boy looking to meet an older man for sex.
"I just checked statutory rape laws in Oklahoma," Wheeler allegedly wrote in response, according to the complaint. "I could go to jail for 5 years to life, so what we will be doing later, we must keep it a secret."
Wheeler also allegedly sent the agent several nude photographs of himself.
Wheeler was arrested when he went to meet the undercover agent at Dave & Buster's in Oklahoma City. The undercover agent looks young for his age and was dressed like a teenager for the meeting, the criminal complaint said.
The agent sat on the curb in front of Dave & Buster's waiting for Wheeler to show up.
"Are you Daddy?" the agent asked Wheeler before law enforcement officers moved in to arrest him.
Wheeler reportedly admitted in a subsequent interview with law enforcement that he'd planned on having sex.
Attempts to contact Wheeler were unsuccessful.
