Photo galleries on NewsOK are a worth a quick scroll on your computer
I often use this space to remind our subscribers of The Oklahoman (Oklahoman.com) and daily users of NewsOK.com of the mobile apps and users that are available for them.
I do that because I know those mobile devices are our habits. We go to our phones when we’re bored. We go there when we’re uncomfortable. And we go there when we wake up.
The Oklahoman has premium apps and mobile sites for subscribers, and NewsOK has apps and mobile sites for non-subscribers. I’ve established that in this space.
That mobile device is always with us.
But your larger device – the one in your lap and on your desk; the one you might have at the office –works pretty well, too. The full-site versions of Oklahoman.com and NewsOK.com are great for getting a snapshot of the news of the day.
And I mean ‘snapshot’ literally.
Let start with NewsOK.com. Go on your favorite browser on your computer – Chrome, Firefox, IE, Safari … your choice. Go to NewsOK.com and scroll past the top section of stories. That top section usually has five to six main stories and about lists of top headlines, exclusive stories from The Oklahoman, national headlines, etc.
Just below that main area is my favorite area of the home page. That’s where we keep the featured photo galleries.
I like to scroll down to that area every day, because we post new galleries each day. Sometimes they are galleries of world news events; sometimes they are of area events; and sometimes they are national entertainment events full of celebrities and fashion.
Monday morning was a perfect example. I saw the photo gallery produced from The Oklahoman’s director of photography, Doug Hoke. He was at the Heard on Hurd even in downtown Edmond and shot lot of great images of the acts and people in Edmond on Saturday night.
I scrolled through every photo and went on the next gallery, which contained dozens of images from London Fashion Week. The next gallery had hundreds of photos from the OU-Tulane football game in Norman on Saturday – and the one after that was from the OSU-Pitt game in Pittsburgh.
Sports and Lifestyle fun – that’s what was there on Monday morning. By Monday afternoon, there was a full gallery of the awards show for the Emmys and pictures from the new municipal court building in Oklahoma City.
It’s always changing. It’s worth a quick scroll on the home page.
