Museum offers Scout workshops

NORMAN — Oklahoma Cub and Girl Scouts will get the chance to investigate, explore and complete the requirements to earn their Scout achievements through several workshops this fall at the Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History. Cost for each workshop is $12 per Scout and includes workshop and general museum. For a list of workshops, go to To preregister, call 325-1008.

Library sets career events

The Southwest Oklahoma City Public Library, 2201 SW 134, invites job-seekers and anyone seeking to advance their career to several upcoming informational events.

6 p.m. Sept. 6: Professional Skills session will give tips on basic resume preparation, pointers on interviews and dressing for success.

6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 13: Resume Reviews for Success.

9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 27: The featured event of the month is the library's come-and-go Community Job Fair.

4-H members receive awards

EDMOND — Two Edmond 4-Hers, and one from Harrah, were recognized for their outstanding 4-H work during the 96th State 4-H Roundup that took place on the Oklahoma State University campus. Elizabeth Klumpp, Edmond, received the $1,000 Dana Smith Scholarship, which is sponsored by Mary Sue Sanders. Amanda Atkins, also of Edmond, received the J.D. Edmonson Ambassador Scholarship. This $2,000 award is presented to State 4-H Ambassadors in good standing and is sponsored by the Edmonson Endowment. Aleiha Mitchell, Harrah, was named the state record book winner in the citizenship project area. She received a $1,200 scholarship sponsored by the Mike Synar Memorial.
