Parties, Etc.: Aug. 27, 2017: Helen Ford Wallace
The occasion: The sixth annual Cookies and Cocktails event was held at Science Museum Oklahoma and benefited the Girl Scouts of Western Oklahoma. All of the appetizers, which featured Girl Scout cookies, were created by Cattleman's Steakhouse, Pub W, Hacienda Tacos, La Baguette Bistro, La Gumbo Ya Ya, McNellie's Pub, Mickey Mantle's Steakhouse, Petroleum Club, Vast, En Croute, Picasso's Cafe and The Garage. Three hundred guests were at the party. Lealon Taylor was chairman. Brooke Haneborg and Pody Hines were co-chairs.
The winners: Local celebrity judges and guests voted for the best dish of the event. The savory category was won by Vast and the sweet category was won by La Gumbo Ya Ya. Judge's Choice winner was Pub W.
The proceeds: Proceeds from this event support the Gold Award Scholarship Fund. Each year, two Gold Award recipients receive college scholarships for exceptional leadership.
ADVISORY COUNCIL RECEPTION
Event: The Junior League of Oklahoma City's Advisory Council, formerly known as the Community Advisory Board, met recently at JL headquarters. The come-and-go event was organized by JL President-Elect Pam Campbell. Tracey Frederick is president. Board members were invited guests.
Council members: On the council this year are Rita Aragon, Lillie-Beth Brinkman, Michael Brooks-Jimenez, Kristine Browne, Clytie Bunyan, Alex Cameron, Dr. Terry Cline, Nicole Dobbins, James Farris, Debbie Forshee, Kelly Dyer Fry, Jim Gebhart, Jeff Kretchmar, Aurora Lora, Mel Martin, Mary Melon, Teresa Rose Crook, Molly Ross Fuhrman, Beth Shortt, Susan Webb, Annett White Klososky, Dt. Noel Williams and Kersey Winfree.
On the board: Board members include Frederick, president; Campbell, president-elect; Paula Cagigal, administrative vice-president; Christy Wilson, communications vice-president; Cortney Smith, community vice-president; Katharine Johnston, financial vice-president; Kristen Ferate, fundraising vice-president; Adrienne Nobles, membership vice-president; Mei Cheng, nominating chairman; Pam Newby, sustaining adviser; Sabrina Froehlich, bylaws chairman; and Jamie Manoles, chief of staff.

Meet and greet: The officers welcomed everyone and fact sheets were handed out. Bouquets of roses were on the tables and appetizers and wine were served. A huge rainstorm hit during the event, delaying the arrival of some of the council members.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BARBARA
Party: Carolyn Coffey was hostess for a special 80th birthday celebration honoring Barbara Lawson.
On arrival: Guests received glittering tiaras to wear and a glass of Champagne to drink as they arrived.
Rolling the dice: After dinner of chicken and artichoke casserole, guests played a “fierce” game of Farkle, a dice game, and had dessert featuring a frozen raspberry sherbet and chocolate crunch with lots of candles. The honoree had a special flower bouquet at the table.
Monthly: The group meets monthly for dinner and Farkle.
