Edmond basketball tournament to help neighborhoods

EDMOND — A Neighborhood Hoops 3v3 Basketball Tournament will be at 7 p.m. Aug. 14 at First Christian Church, 201 E Second St. in Edmond, to raise money for basketball goals in Oklahoma City neighborhoods.

Jack Kerr and Paxton Shorow wanted to help children enjoy basketball in their neighborhoods, so they came up with the idea for the tournament. They would like to raise at least $700.

There will be three age groups: players in the sixth grade and under; students in the seventh through the ninth grades, and all ages above the ninth grade, including adults.

When sending in a roster, indicate what grade the player will attend in the fall. Each team can have up to five players, but only three team members will play at a time.

Games are eight minutes, and rules will be explained the day of the tournament, according to a news release.

Entry fee is $30 in cash on the day of the tournament. Spectators will be charged $3. Donations will be appreciated.

To register or for more information, call 757-8030 or 593-4070, or email jakekerr225@gmail.com or pshorow@gmail.com.
