New premium Android app for subscribers is now available in the Google Play store
I was speaking to a group of engineers a couple of weeks ago at one of their regular meetings.
I was talking about what we do in the Audience Development department at The Oklahoman, especially as it relates to subscribers (since the majority of people in the room that day were subscribers).
I talked about how we create digital experiences for subscribers and future subscribers. Within my discussion, I mentioned that we had a major upgrade to The Oklahoman’s Android app set to be released in a couple weeks.
After the meeting, one man wanted to ask me about that app. He wanted to confirm what he thought he had heard. If there’s a new Android app, maybe he’ll get his young adult children to subscribe again. They read everything on those devices.
Well, the time is now. The Android app upgrade is here.
We have had an Android app with daily editions of The Oklahoman available for download for years. The upgrade this week, however, is significant. We’ve added a video page, a photo page and a page for the Print Replica, allowing subscribers to also see the newspaper as it went to press that day.
We’ve added breaking news to our main section front and additional sections to help round out our national, international and sports coverage.
We’ve also added Inbox alerts, allowing you to customize the news headlines that will feed the notifications on your phone or tablet.
It’s faster to download an edition. It has more news and information. It has more multimedia options. It has customization features.
The Oklahoman’s new Android app is the one to tell your family about.
Subscribers have access to this premium product as part of their subscription.
Download it from the Google Play store today.
