‘Biding Time’ series still available for subscribers and future subscribers on Oklahoman.com
Josh Dulaney summed it up well.
The Oklahoman’s reporter was talking about his recent series about the criminal justice system in Oklahoma County.
Josh described the system.
“A very complex issue,” he said. “It’s hard to unpack in one story or a drive-by piece.”
That’s why Dulaney wrote six investigative stories regarding the challenges in the criminal justice system and the Oklahoma County jail.
The series is called ‘Biding Time’ and it’s available from the front page of Oklahoman.com and NewsOK.com right now. The first story was originally published in The Oklahoman on June 25, and the series ran through June 30.
The Oklahoman’s reporter on the series was talking about the series on the ‘Writer’s Room’ podcast with Enterprise/Live editor Phil O’Connor. I listened to the podcast during my commute on the Monday after the series launched.
If you care about local journalism telling stories that are important to the future of our community, this is a series you should read. At the very least, listen to the podcast, which is available on your podcast apps for your mobile device or on SoundCloud.
In the podcast, Dulaney talked with O’Connor about his thoughts in reporting and writing the series. He spoke with everybody in our community with a stake in the system to get their input on the best way forward.
“They are serious about overhauling the system,” said the reporter. “However it is difficult to get all these moving pieces -- from the public defender’s office to the sheriff’s office to the jail itself to the nonprofits -- … and get them going in one direction.”
Subscribers have access to all six parts of the series. All they need is their digital login and password.
Non-subscribers cannot read the entire series without purchasing the articles, which is a bargain for the depth of reporting and sources Josh put together to tell the story from every angle.
You can find it on NewsOK.com and Oklahoman.com right now.
