Flag Day event to honor U.S. military members, veterans

MIDWEST CITY — A tribute to the men and women who serve in the U.S. military is scheduled today at Rose State College. The Flag Day event will be presented at 3 p.m. and again at 7 p.m. in the Hudiburg Chevrolet Center.

The public is invited to attend the free event.

Organizers said the tribute will include a celebration of veterans and will end with a showing of the short-film “Journey to Honor.” The film is a salute to America’s World War II heroes, which brings to life the Will Rogers quote, “We can’t all be heroes because somebody has to stand on the curb and clap as they go by.”

The film tells the life stories of three WWII veterans from Oklahoma, and follows their emotional journey with the Oklahoma Honor Flights to Washington, D.C.
