The Morning Brew: OU football coach Bob Stoops announces retirement
Welcome to Thursday. Here are some headlines to start your day.
Stoops announces his retirement
After 18 seasons as the Sooners' head football coach, Bob Stoops is retiring.
Stoops, the winningest coach in University of Oklahoma football history, announced his decision Wednesday. He retires with a 190-48 record. Stoops coached the Sooners to four national title games, including the 2000 national championship. Under his leadership, the Sooners won nine outright Big 12 titles and tied for another.
Lincoln Riley, who served as OU's offensive coordinator for the past two seasons, is taking over as head coach. In 2015, Riley won the Broyles Award, which is given to college football's assistant coach of the year.
Here's what people had to say on social media about Stoops' retirement. And here's a photo gallery of Stoops through the years.
