Daily email delivered to subscribers critical to our delivery of news
I was talking to a subscriber a few weeks ago.
That’s one thing about working at The Oklahoman – everyone is connected to this product, either as a subscriber or as a NewsOK.com reader at some frequency. So there’s always a connection.
The person I spoke with a couple weeks ago is a subscriber who also takes advantage of The Oklahoman’s digital access. All subscribers can use Oklahoman.com, The Oklahoman’s apps, or The Oklahoman’s Print Replica experience for free. Access to these premium products comes with your subscription.
As with most subscribers I spoke with, this person prefers reading the printed copy of the newspaper. He gets the newspaper on Wednesdays and Sundays, but reads the editions digitally on other days.
That piqued my interest, of course. I know something about our digital products.
“What product do you use?”
My friend didn’t know. Not only did he not know, he seemed to be confused. Now that I think about it, it’s a silly question. He simply uses The Oklahoman and doesn’t spend his days considering all the options for delivery of daily digital content.
I explained that we have a website, a couple of apps and the Print Replica. I assumed he used the print replica -- newspaper readers who like the printed copy usually gravitate to the Print Replica.
“I don’t know,” he said. “I get an email every morning.”
Ahhh -- the daily subscriber email. That makes sense. I love that email.
My friend, the print and digital subscriber, made my day.
I never really saw it as one of the digital ‘products’ for subscribers. I just saw it as a vehicle to get to the products. I saw it as a reminder message to go to our website or Print Replica.
My friend saw it as a critical delivery of the newspaper.
That’s good, because it works both ways. We send that email every day at 5 a.m. or so. If you aren’t getting the email, you should. Just go to Oklahoman.com and sign up at the bottom of the front page. Or contact us online, via chat or through the phone at (405) 478-7171.
We want you to get this daily delivery.
It’s good to know that our subscribers see it as a critical option.
