He's from one of the most powerful families in Oklahoma's political history and made an unsuccessful bid for governor in 2010.

That campaign put him back on the political map and back into the minds of Oklahoma voters.

Inman serves as Democratic leader in the Oklahoma House and will serve his last term in the Legislature next year because of term limits ...“We think that Gov. Fallin's failed leadership over the last seven years has given us an opportunity to make a different argument, that we can run the state in a different way, that trying to cut our way to prosperity doesn't work,” Inman told The Oklahoman in April.

Former state Sen. Connie Johnson, a Democrat, plans to run for governor, too. She told The Associated Press in February that

Johnson was the Democratic nominee for the U.S. Senate seat eventually won by Republican James Lankford in 2014. She is a strong supporter of abortion rights and a longtime critic of the death penalty and Oklahoma's high incarceration rate.
State Auditor Gary Jones has indicated he will seek the Republican nomination. He told the AP
"My main message is that we have to be fiscally responsible, that we have to cut out all unnecessary expenses, but we also have to have enough revenue to fund core services," Jones told The Associated Press. "If you turn me loose today, I could show you some areas where we could make cuts and not lose core services."
Richardson, who ran for governor in 2002 as an independent, is seeking the Republican ticket this time around.
“Folks, we are in trouble in Oklahoma,” Richardson said. “We will do an audit of every state agency, we will find out how the money is being spent and we will find out where the money is going.”
