Commissions earned by Edmond's UCO Army ROTC

EDMOND — Seven University of Central Oklahoma students and four from partner universities received military commissions upon completion of bachelor's degrees and the Army ROTC program during a spring commissioning service.

Cadets complete a curriculum of classroom and leadership lab instruction, physical training and summer training while attending college full-time, according to a news release.

The newly commissioned UCO students are:

2nd Lt. Tyler Aycox, Ardmore, bachelor's degree in general studies with a minor in military science. He will serve in the U.S. Army on active duty as a military police officer.

2nd Lt. Molly Hatch, Edmond, bachelor's degree in criminal justice with a minor in military science. She will serve in the U.S. Army on active duty as an engineer officer.

2nd Lt. Ryan Lincoln, Edmond, master's degree in nutrition and food management with a minor in military science. He will serve in the U.S. Army Reserve as a medical services officer.

2nd Lt. Samantha McCardle, Cache, bachelor's degree in nursing with a minor in military science. She will serve in the U.S. Army on active duty as a nurse corps officer.

2nd Lt. William Southard, Duncan, bachelor's degree in political science and German with minors in international relations and military science. He will serve in the U.S. Army on active duty as a quartermaster officer.

2nd Lt. James Storment, McAlester, bachelor's degree in mass communications with a minor in military science. He will serve in the U.S. Army on active duty as a military police officer.

2nd Lt. Keri Thomas, Edmond, bachelor's degree in general studies with a minor in military science. She will serve in the U.S. Army Reserve as an engineer officer.

UCO's program is host to five active affiliated universities: Oklahoma Christian, Oklahoma City University, Southern Nazarene University, Southwestern Christian University and Langston University.

The newly commissioned students from affiliated universities are:

2nd Lt. Christopher Humphrey, Edmond, bachelor's degree in mathematics from Oklahoma Christian University. He will serve in the Oklahoma Army National Guard as a field artillery officer.

2nd Lt. Victoria Little, Lawton, bachelor's degree in biomedical science from Oklahoma City University. She will serve in the Oklahoma Army National Guard as a medical services officer.

2nd Lt. Nathan Thaler, Mustang, bachelor's degree in finance from Oklahoma City University. He will serve in the U.S. Army on active duty as an infantry officer.

2nd Lt. Blake Wieczorek, Ponca City, bachelor's degree in nursing from Southern Nazarene University. He will serve in the U.S. Army Reserve as a nurse corps officer.
