The Morning Brew: Mark Zuckerberg's charm offensive

It's Monday, or for those that ran in Sunday's marathon a "rest day".

Facebook founder visits the heartland

Mark Zuckerberg isn't planning a 2020 president run. That idea was put to rest earlier this year.

But he recently toured a Ford plant in Michigan, visited a fire department in Indiana, dined with Trump voters in Ohio and spent Sunday with farmers in Wisconsin.

It's the kind of thing guys who might be thinking about running for president would do, not the typical behavior of guys who have business empires to manage.

So what gives? From the look of it Zuckerberg is simply trying to see how flyover country lives.

Here's a local news report of his dinner at an Ohio family's home.

He has been chronicling his travels on his Facebook page with pictures and videos.

Here's what he said about his Sunday visit with the Gant family in Blanchardville, Wisconsin:

"I spent the afternoon with the Gant family on their farm in Blanchardville, Wisconsin.

Jed Gant and his family raise dairy and beef cattle just like five generations of Gants before them did. The last time Jed took a trip away from the farm was in 1981 when he and his wife Rona got married. That's because he has to milk 30 cows every 12 hours -- at 5am and 5pm. He told me, "If I leave, I leave my livelihood in the hands of someone else. And I don't have enough help as it is."

The family is incredibly disciplined. Everyone works daylight to dark, seven days a week."

His Sunday post included pictures of Zuckerberg feeding a calf milk with a bottle and driving a red tractor.  It's garnered 62,000 likes and counting.
