EDMOND — A time capsule, filled with memorabilia and photographs, was sealed at the Clegern Elementary School's 85th anniversary celebration. It will be opened in 2031, the 100th birthday of the Edmond school.

An open house was held at the school at 601 S Jackson on Sunday, celebrating 85 years since it opened.

Starting out as a one-room school house, Clegern now has an enrollment of 298 that includes two classes in every grade level.

Clegern is named for Harry Clegern, who donated the land to build the school on what used to be a peach orchard.

The school opened in 1931 and has been recognizing its anniversary during the 2016-2017 school year.
