The Morning Brew: Deputy down

A man with a criminal past is accused in the Tuesday slaying of a Logan County Sheriff's deputy.

Deputy David Wade, an Army veteran and married father of three, was delivering an eviction notice in Mulhall, Okla., a hamlet of 273 people about 40 miles north of Oklahoma City, when the routine business turned violent.

Wade was shot in the face and body before being taken to OU Medical Center, where he died minutes before noon.

The shooter reportedly stole the deputy's patrol pickup and drove to just west of Langston where another car was stolen at gunpoint at Smitty's One Stop, a convenience store, at State Highway 33 and Henney Road.

Nathan Aaron LeForce is accused in the slaying and has a long history of criminal charges in Noble County.
