Operations back to normal at Tinker Air Force Base after 'security concern' forces evacuation
Operations are back to normal at Tinker Air Force Base after a security concern forced an evacuation Friday morning.
Officials evacuated the area around the Gott Gate, located on the southwestern side of the base, after security personnel stopped a delivery truck after finding what they thought to be explosive residue, said Jerry Bryza, a spokesman for the base.
An Oklahoma County bomb squad was called to the scene, near the corner of SE 59 and S Air Depot Boulevard, and determined that there was no threat to the base or surrounding buildings, Bryza said. Security personnel denied the delivery truck entry.
"The security and safety of Tinker Air Force Base and its personnel remains a top priority," Bryza said.
