Animal shelter plans open house

NORMAN — Local animal lovers and city leaders are invited to attend an open house from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at Norman Animal Welfare Center, 3428 S Jenkins Ave. The open house was prompted by a desire to show officials the hard work and outstanding needs at the shelter. “Our intake numbers are way up, and we need more staff to alleviate the heavy burden. It is clear that Norman's leadership needs to see for itself the state of affairs at our city's shelter,” said Rebecca Bean, member of the Norman Animal Welfare Oversight Committee."
