Demonstrators to gather Monday at OU to protest Trump refugee ban

Students and other activists are planning a rally against President Donald Trump's refugee ban Monday afternoon at the University of Oklahoma.

Demonstrators will meet at noon Monday on OU's South Oval. The rally is scheduled to last until 2 p.m., according to a Facebook event. Organizers say they hope to use the event as an opportunity to stand in solidarity with those affected by the refugee ban and ask university officials to protect those affected.

On Friday, Trump signed an executive order barring citizens of seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the United States for 90 days. The ban also suspends visas for all refugees for 120 days. On Saturday, a federal judge issued an emergency order barring federal officials from deporting people affected by the order.
