In a recent one-year period, Oklahoma City police responded to more than 260,000 calls for service. The Oklahoman analyzed records from each of those calls. Here are the top 10 reasons people call the police in Oklahoma City.
10. Citizen assist
5,861 calls
9. Domestic disturbance (Immediate)
6,926 calls
An "immediate" designation means the call is classified as Priority 2, the second-highest priority.
8. Other type calls (Immediate)
7,926 calls
A catch-all classification 911 dispatchers use for any call that doesn't fit any particular category. The "immediate" designation means the call is classified as Priority 3.
7. Check welfare
8,019 calls
Police are often called to check on a resident's welfare. Such calls are generally designated as Priority 3 unless they're classified as immediate or emergency medical personnel are required.
6. Suspicious activity
10,650 calls
5. Other type calls
