Mary Fallin named to Trump transition team
Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin went to New York.
The trip to Trump Tower cost the state's taxpayers $6,000.
She talked energy and Native American affairs while there; a Trump aide said Fallin is a candidate to lead the Interior Department.
Now, Fallin has been chosen by Trump as a vice chair on his transition team.
The Oklahoman's Rick Green and Chris Casteel report:
Fallin met with Trump in New York City last week about subjects relevant to the U.S. Department of Interior. It was not clear whether the advisory position she was picked for on Tuesday had any bearing on her chances of becoming a cabinet secretary.
Fallin was among a handful of new vice chairs named, according to news release from the Trump transition office. Other new ones included Republican U.S. Reps. Marsha Blackburn, of Tennessee, and Cathy McMorris Rodgers, of Washington; and Republican U.S. Sen. Tim Scott, of South Carolina.
