Parties Extra!---How can you beat a party on a Ferris Wheel?

It was the perfect party recently at Wheeler Park, 1701 S Western. Staff at Ludivine Restaurant and members of the Wheeler District got together and provided a themed dinner called “Le Restaurant Francais of the 1939 World Fair.” It was a sold-out party for the seated dinner on the rotating Ferris wheel.  The party was perfect as it featured excellent food, excellent weather, excellent music and an excellent venue and theme.

Chefs, Jonathon Stranger and Russ Johnson, from the restaurant provided a four- course dinner (one course per Ferris Wheel rotation.) They cooked lobster tail, poached salmon and pheasant, with a French flair, for the guests, grilling some of it onsite right by the Ferris wheel.

People enjoyed cocktails and oysters, crab claws, shrimp and split pea soup and various other hors d’oeuvres while waiting their turn for dinner.

There were also signature drinks of Zombie rum cocktails and Neon Sunset cocktails, reminiscent of the 30’s. Guests jitterbugged on an outdoor dance floor to the music of The Savoy Trio. Cozy cocktail tables were set around the grounds as well as a grouping of velvet sofas and chairs. Some of the guests wore outfits from the 1930’s. All of these activities were along the Oklahoma River.

At the park, along with the former Santa Monica Pier Ferris wheel, there is a snack shack, restroom and a pavilion. The ride is nine stories tall and 30 ft. wide and was featured in 28 movies.
