OSU parade crash victim recognized by American Airlines

On an autumn day last year, Leo Schmitz drove from his home in Skiatook family to take in a football game.

But Schmitz, an aviation mechanic for American Airlines, and his family would never make it to the game. Schmitz was one of dozens of victims injured in a crash at the Oklahoma State University homecoming parade. The crash left four people dead.

The crash left Schmitz with two broken legs, one of which would eventually be amputated. But after months of care and therapy, Schmitz returned to work in June. This week, American Airlines congratulated Schmitz on his recovery.
