Howl at the Moon event to benefit OK Foster Wishes

In November, we sat down with OK Foster Wishes' Lisa Feist to talk about their upcoming Snow Ball and celebrating 10 years as an organization.

Feist returned to The Oklahoman's studio Wednesday afternoon to preview another event, the "Howl at the Moon Summer Solstice" which will benefit OK Foster Wishes, at 7 pm, Saturday, June 18. The event will be held at Fat Dog Kitchen and Bar, 1234 N. Western Ave. Lonnie Green, owner of Fat Dog Kitchen and Bar, joined Feist.

You can watch that interview in the above video.

OK Foster Wishes efforts to link the community with volunteer opportunities with kids in foster care. Feist says there are around 10,000 kids in state custody, meaning there are plenty of opportunities to help.

The "Howl at the Moon" evening will benefit abused, abandoned and neglected children in Oklahoma's foster system through the work of OK Foster Wishes.

Saturday's event will feature the Fat Dog hot dog eating contest, a silent auction and raffle items. A $10 donation will get you a Schwabs Dog and a Marshall draw. DJ Joe Heck will spin the music.

Green says more is planned for the patio area at Fat Dog, which just opened earlier this year. For many years the space was occupied by a bar called The Antique Lady. When I visited Fat Dog a few weeks ago, I was impressed by the renovation overall, including that outdoor space which features a dog friendly environment.

Feist said the Snow Ball event raised about $40,000. OK Foster Wishes recently wrapped up its graduation ceremonies and is currently looking for committee members to help with this year's Snow Ball. Also, July 1 is Christmas in July at OK Foster Wishes.
