WCWS adds free events for fans of all ages

The day before the Women's College World Series starts is always a busy one on the fields at the Hall of Fame Stadium complex with teams practicing and getting used to their surroundings.

Their practices have always been open to the public, but few fans have shown.

The NCAA is hoping to change that.

Starting this year, it is offering several free activities on Wednesday, practice day at the WCWS. Fans can watch the teams practice -- a complete schedule is listed below -- but they can also take advantage of other fun options.

*Spirit stations: Make a poster to cheer on your favorite team or players.

*Specialty hair bow making.

*Face painting.

*Photo booth: Record a welcome message for your favorite team, and you might see it used on the big screen during a game.

*Photo opportunity with the national championship trophy.

*Autograph sessions with USA Softball national team members Ally Carda, Jessica Moore and Janie Takeda.

Wednesday's activities at the Hall of Fame Stadium complex, 2801 NE 50th Street, run from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Here is the open practice schedule for practices being held on the main stadium field:

Noon-12:55 p.m.: Georgia

1-1:55 p.m.: Auburn

2-2:55 p.m.: UCLA
