Update: Garvin County tornado upgraded to EF-4
A deadly tornado that tore through Garvin County on Monday evening has been upgraded to an EF-4, the National Weather Service reported.
National Weather Service survey teams were in southern Oklahoma on Tuesday morning surveying damage from Monday night's tornado near Wynnewood. One man, Chester Barnes, 76, was killed in Garvin County.
In Johnston County, Jackie D. Brooks, 78, who lived alone, died when a tornado destroyed his house 4 miles southeast of Connerville. Brooks, who lived near Dead Man Springs Road, was found about 150 yards from his house, Johnston County Sheriff Jon Smith said.
