OKC school board member schedules community meeting
Oklahoma City Public Schools board member Ruth Veales will host a town hall meeting Thursday to update the community about initiatives and issues affecting the school district.
The meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. at Northeast Academy, 3100 N Kelley.
"Anyone interested in the future of our children is being asked to attend this important meeting," said Veales, who represents several schools on Oklahoma City's northeast side. "This meeting will not be a gripe session, but an opportunity to hear and discuss what is happening in our schools and what we can do to improve them."
Those who attend the meeting will learn about the current status of student achievement and efforts underway by the school district to improve student performance. Attendees can ask questions and voice their concerns and will have the opportunity to join an organization that will be an ongoing presence to support students and their schools.
As District 5 board member, Veales represents the following schools:
Green Pastures Elementary
Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary
Thelma R. Parks Elementary
Willow Brook Elementary
Rogers Middle School
Douglass Mid/High School
Northeast Academy of Health Sciences and Engineering Enterprise School
Star Spencer High School
