OKC school district admin growth outpaces teacher hires

Oklahoma City Public Schools announced plans to cut 208 teaching positions for the 2016-17 school year based on expected state budget reductions. A cut of that size would decrease total teaching levels by 7.7 percent, based on district data. Since 2010, student enrollment in Oklahoma City Public Schools has increased by 7 percent with teacher levels rising by roughly the same percentage.

Superintendent Rob Neu said central office staff cuts would be announced at a later date. Since 2010, the district’s central office staff has increased by 51 percent.
