WATCH: Volunteers rescue stranded dog from icy Utah reservoir

A search and rescue team braved icy conditions Friday to rescue a dog named Sadie that had been trapped on a frozen Utah lake for five days.

Sadie's owner, Charelle Meriweather, told KSTU-TV in Salt Lake City that the dog was stranded on a quickly melting sheet of ice on Deer Creek Reservoir, about 21 miles northeast of Provo. Meriweather said she suspects someone let the dog out intentionally. Family members tried to rescue Sadie using a canoe, but the dog kept running away.

That's when a volunteer search and rescue team from neighboring Utah County stepped in to help. The rescue was captured on video and posted to the Utah County Sheriff's Office Facebook page. Take a look:

The Utah County Sheriff's Office was asked to assist DNR in Wasatch County in rescuing a Dog on Deer Creek Reservoir that had been stuck on the ice since Monday (5 days).
