Marco Rubio to visit Oklahoma City on Friday

Republican presidential candidate Marco Rubio will appear at a rally at 2 p.m. at the Chevy Bricktown Events Center in Oklahoma City.

The visit is set for a day after the Republican debate in Houston and just days ahead of Oklahoma's participation in the March 1 primaries. Rubio has a fundraiser scheduled in Oklahoma City on Friday evening.

The U.S. senator from Florida has picked up several high-profile endorsements in Oklahoma, including ones from U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe, R-Tulsa, and U.S. Rep. Markwayne Mullin, R-Westville.

On Tuesday, former Gov. Frank Keating, who had been supporting Jeb Bush, announced that he is now backing Rubio.

Keating compared Rubio to former President Ronald Reagan.

"Marco Rubio speaks about America the same way," Keating said. "He understands that we are a unique and exceptional nation, and I’m supporting him because I know he is determined to preserve that."

The presidential hopeful will speak on his vision for the country. Doors for the event will open at 1 p.m.

Guests are required to RSVP if they wish to attend via an Eventbrite page.
