Music to our ears: View video on Andrew's Make-A-Wish piano surprise
Several days ago, Andrew Vargas gave his piano instructor a big surprise and touched the hearts of numerous people in the process.
Andrew, 15, is experiencing a life-threatening blood disorder and because of this, Make-A-Wish Oklahoma selected him to be a "wish" recipient. Make-A-Wish is a nonprofit that tries to instill hope, strength and joy into the lives of youths facing life-threatening illnesses. The organization grants the youths' "wishes" for things like trips to Disney World or opportunities to be a professional or celebrity for a day.
Well, Andrew's wish was not for something for himself. His wish was to give his piano teacher Greg Fisher a new Steinway baby grand piano.
The story about Andrew's wish ran Feb. 10 in The Oklahoman.
I received lots of reader feedback about the story, with so many people saying it warmed their hearts.
Make-A-Wish recently created a video about Andrew's wish and I've included it here with this posting.
Reading about Andrew's selfless act is one thing, but hearing about it is really special, particularly in this instance.
It's music to our ears.
