OC BB players are raising money for Lubbock Christian volleyball player

People who attend the Thursday, Feb. 4 men's basketball game at Oklahoma Christian University will have an opportunity to donate money to a special fund set up to help a volleyball player from Lubbock Christian University.

The OC men's team decided their matchup against Lubbock Christian would be a great time to help a fellow student athlete.

Malori Maddox is a Lubbock Christian University volleyball player who had to undergo emergency surgery for a brain bleed during a match back in November. OC leaders said her story has been featured regionally and even nationally on NBC's Today show. 

Oklahoma Christian and Lubbock Christian are sister institutions and Heartland Conference rivals. is both one of Lubbock Christian's sister institutions and conference rivals. 

OC will host free-throw contests and other activities plus donation buckets will be passed around

at the game, set for 7:30 p.m., to help defray Maddox's medical costs. OC's social service clubs are having a competition to see who can raise the most money.

The game will be on the OC campus at 2501 E Memorial Road.
