Winter must-see movies
We’ve all seen the new Star Wars movie. Well, I haven’t but I meant to and will at some point. I haven’t seen many of the “best picture” nominees for the Academy Awards either. Still, there are more movies headed our way.
Anderson, of course, has seen the latest Star Wars movie.
These three movies represent something for various audiences and ages.

"The 5th Wave" features a world preparing for a lethal 5th wave of alien attacks. It's rated PG-13 and is based on the young adult novel by Rick Yancey. It opens at Harkins on Jan. 22.
"Dirty Grandpa" is for an older audience. It's rated R and also arrives on Jan. 22. Zac Efron and Robert De Niro headline this movie. From the provided description, "Jason Kelly (Zac Efron), an uptight lawyer headed down the wrong path, is tricked by his rambunctious Grandpa, Dick (Robert De Niro), into taking an outrageous road trip."
"Kung Fu Panda 3" hits Harkins on Jan. 29 and is aimed at kids. And parents. I saw the first KFP on an international flight and found myself pretty engaged. In part 3, the lead panda, Po, returns. Po’s long-lost panda father, voiced by Bryan Cranston, reappears for a duo adventure to a secret panda paradise. And of course there is a villain, Kai, and before long everyone is kung fu fighting.
Harkins also features Tuesday Night Classics. Tonight is The Warriors,” taking viewers through a turf battle between New York City street gangs. Next Tuesday is the classic “The Graduate” with Dustin Hoffman.
One item I clearly failed to mention in the interview: today, Jan. 19, is apparently National Popcorn Day. Clearly, one must celebrate such a prestigious day by watching a movie!
