Video: Chamber hosts criminal justice reform discussion, sheriff responds
Mental health is an issue The Oklahoman has covered extensively in recent years, and for good reason. On Wednesday, a panel discussion was hosted by the Oklahoma City Chamber to discuss mental health issues, criminal justice reform and the Oklahoma County jail.
Clayton Bennett with Dorchester Capital outlined the Chambers' efforts. On the panel were Oklahoma County district attorney David Prater, former State House Speaker Kris Steele, Terri White, commissioner for the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, and Oklahoma County Sheriff John Whetsel.
Live coverage of the panel was captured on NewsOK.com. The Oklahoman's Jaclyn Cosgrove and William Crum provided live Tweets from the session.
Big props to The Oklahoman's Owen Canfield for grabbing a few comments from Whetsel following the panel discussion. That interview is below, video from NewsOK's Tim Money.
