New OU Health Sciences provost knows medicine, business, literature

Dr. Jason Sanders was named senior vice president and provost for the University of Oklahoma’s Health Sciences Center campus Tuesday. He had served in that role on an interim basis since June.
Sanders graduated with honors from OU with a bachelor of science degree in biochemistry in 2000. OU President David Boren said, “There has not been a brighter student at the University of Oklahoma during the 21 years I've been here."
With degrees in both medicine and business administration from Harvard University, Sander is "one of the most qualified people in America to lead our Health Sciences Center as provost,” Boren said.
As a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University, Sanders also received a master’s of art in English language and literature in 2003.
He teaches courses including clinical medicine, interprofessional education and the business of medicine, and works with medical students and residents at OU Medical Center. He also teaches literature and medicine in the Honors College on the Norman campus. Sanders practices general internal medicine, seeing patients at OU Physicians.
