Hargis thankful for OU's support, looking forward to Bedlam
Addressing the Downtown Rotary Club 29 on Tuesday, Oklahoma State University’s president said he is thankful for the many acts of sacrifice and bravery shown to the OSU community following last month’s homecoming parade tragedy.
“I want to say thank you to everybody that has been so supportive of us,” President Burns Hargis said.
Hargis – who earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from OSU and his law degree from the University of Oklahoma – said he really appreciated OU’s support on that day.
“I’m thankful for OU flying our flag on the field. I’m thankful for them singing our alma mater,” he said.
Hargis said he is looking forward to the Bedlam football game Saturday.
“I’m hoping I can persuade our fans not to boo when OU runs out on the field," he said to laughter from the crowd. "It’s a tough go, but I’m going to do the best I can, because I really do appreciate it and I’ve told President Boren that.”
