Nice feedback makes for a good week on NewsOK and The Oklahoman

This space is usually saved for me to talk about our digital products.

I write about all the apps our subscribers can access as part of their subscription. Or I write about the early access to articles for our subscribers.

Sometimes I'll write about the newest innovation on NewsOK.com or something remarkable being produced by the video production team in our downtown studios.

But this week is a bit different. This week, I am sharing share some comments from loyal readers of The Oklahoman -- the one that gets delivered in your driveway or purchased at your local news stand.

There are stacks of pages of text and images every day that detail the life in our community. As much as I love everything we have to offer in the digital space (and trust me, I have lots to tell you about in the following weeks and months), there's no better value than what is produced, printed and packaged for you each day.

Comment No. 1 comes from a reader who was visiting this week from out of town. It came from a college football writer from a national media outlet who was covering the Bob Stoops news conference in Norman on Monday.

"... When he travels, he rarely considers picking up the local newspaper a 'must.' He said The Oklahoman is one of the rare ones because he reads it every day when he travels here."

Comment No. 2 comes from a subscriber who read through the series of stories in Sunday's editions of The Oklahoman.

"I wanted you to know how much I enjoyed your articles in Sunday’s edition covering various police officers’ beats in our city. I read every word and thought it to be refreshingly positive and informational. ...  Thanks for the enlightening reading."

So this week, we take time out from the digital rush to remember that The Oklahoman ...

  1. is a 'must' for out-of-towners
  2. has content that is 'refreshingly positive and informational'
  3. is 'enlightening'

This type of feedback isn't really unusual. It just seemed like an appropriate weekend to share.
