Who are all these young people in downtown Oklahoma City?

Downtown Oklahoma City is the site of large Pentecostal youth conference.

At a downtown sandwich shop today, several people wondered out loud just who the visitors were since it would be hard not to notice the sudden influx of thousands of young people.

The 2015 North American Youth Conference began Wednesday at the Chesapeake Energy Arena and continues through Friday. There are so many young people, more than 18,000, that many are participating in the conference at the overflow venue, the Cox Convention Center.

These young people will be visiting many areas of the metro including The Outlet Shoppes and Frontier City.

The conference is organized by the general youth division, a division of the United Pentecostal Church International.

The event includes the North American Bible Quiz Tournament, featuring teams competing for Bible memorization awards. Read The Oklahoman's story about the tournament:

Friday, the young people are expected to spread out into the Oklahoma City area for community service projects.
