Delta Airlines won't ship exotic animal trophies

Delta Airlines has joined a group of foreign carriers who will no longer ship trophies from big game hunters.

The move is a response to the outcry over the killing of Cecil, an African lion who was illegally lured off a preserve in Zimbabwe and shot (poorly) with an arrow by a Minnesota dentist who has now been publicly shamed into hiding and may face criminal charges here, and also in Zimbabwe over what now seems like a poorly chosen vacation.

This story is a great example of the force social media can bring to bear on things the public doesn't like. This is one of those things. The court of public opinion has spoken loudly and it does not like big game hunting or dentists who shoot lions. Not one little bit.

Delta is merely listening to what their market demands and reaping the positive publicity that comes with it.
