OU football: Were Keith Ford and other recent departures addition by subtraction or a troubling trend?
Last week Oklahoma running back Keith Ford announced he was transferring. Then, according to multiple reports, redshirt freshman defensive back Tito Windham has decided to transfer.
This week, receiver KJ Young was dismissed from the team.
Aother redshirt freshman cornerback, Marcus Green, was reportedly transferring too, though he later tweeted that he would remain at OU.
None of these players were or are projected for a prominent role next season, but is all this attrition a good or bad thing for the Sooners?
The Oklahoman columnists Berry Tramel and Jenni Carlson weigh in on this Press Row "5 for 5" video.
Berry: "Sometimes you need to lose guys just to set a new standard of behavior. Every four or five years Bob Stoops, I don't know if he needs to do it but he has done it. ... I think that can be advantageous to a program."
Jenni: "Any time you lose a running back who is capable, and Keith Ford has shown himself to be capable, that's troubling."
They also weigh in on the Thunder's draft spot, Russell Westbrook's outfit for the NBA Draft lottery, favorite rainy day activities and the move of the Big 12 baseball tournament to Tulsa this week. Watch.
