Cayla Lewis to take over at 16th Street Plaza District
The Plaza District Association announced today Cayla Lewis, previously its community relations coordinator, will take over as its Executive Director.
"We're excited to bring Cayla on board," said Plaza District Association Board President, Kristen Wilson. "We feel that Cayla has the expertise and passion for the Plaza that the district needs to continue it's forward momentum. Her wealth of experience, relationship with the district businesses and neighbors, and enthusiasm make her a great choice to lead the Plaza District."
Lewis was most recently working as a community relations coordinator with Downtown Oklahoma City Inc. Holding a Bachelor of Fine Arts from The University of Oklahoma, Lewis serves as co-chair for Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition's Momentum OKC, and also serves on the 12×12 Committee.
Lewis is an active member of the neighborhood, serving as a board member of the Classen Ten Penn Neighborhood Association, and is chairing the Third Annual Classen Ten Penn Community Festival. Lewis is also a member of Midtown Rotary and a Leadership Arts graduate from Oklahoma Arts Council.
"I’m thrilled to be back in the Plaza District, now as Executive Director," Lewis said. “This place holds a piece of my heart. I love the community here and am excited to lead the district’s progression as an arts and cultural hub for this city.”
Dustin Akers, who has served as interim director since the departure of Kristen Vails, will work with Lewis through June.
