High School Sports: El Reno standout Tyrone Lewis returns to his alma mater

El Reno has hired one of its greatest athletes to lead its wrestling program.

Tyrone Lewis will be announced officially as the coach during a press conference Wednesday afternoon in El Reno, but his hiring brings his wrestling career full circle. El Reno is where he started wrestling, winning two state titles and earning a scholarship to Oklahoma State.

He was a four-time NCAA qualifier for the Cowboys, finishing fifth twice, third once and as runner-up his senior season.

After wrestling nationally and internationally for the United States, he worked as an assistant at Oklahoma City University, OSU, Oklahoma and most recently Maryland.
