When AirBnb goes horribly wrong
I’ve used AirBnb once on a trip to Paris with my wife last year and overall it was a good experience.
Yeah, it was a little weird arriving in a strange city and knowing you’re going to have to navigate your way to an apartment that you know little about.
In the end we had a really good experience and would use it again. The place we stayed wasn’t the actual owner’s home, but rather one he rented. He lived in another part of town. Some AirBnb offerings are just rooms in homes, while others are for the entire home.
A Canadian couple found out the hard way that sometimes things can go wrong with the process as someone who rented their apartment completely trashed it.
AirBnb claims instances like theirs are rare and that’s probably true. Ther service, whic his similar to Uber, has been controversial since its debut with many complaining that it allows property owners to skirt zoning laws and much like Uber, AirBnb is viewed with nothing but disdain by hoteliers off all sizes.
