Nepal quake also a blow to landmarks, tourism
The earthquake in Nepal killed thousands and left the country reeling and entering a period of recovery that will likely take years. And there may be fewer tourism dollars during that time. The quake destroyed several famous sites, including the Dharahara tower in Kathmandu.
About 800,000 people visit Nepal every year for the sole purpose of seeing its sights. While not a large number compared to some top destinations, it’s fairly substantial for a place that’s hard to get to.
