CHK/Central Boathouse opens with a dinner concert

Donors and supporters of the University of Central Oklahoma River Project were at a dinner concert on April 15 for an advance opening of the CHK/Central Boathouse "Where art meets the river" on the Oklahoma River. Chairmen were Jane and David Thompson, and Kathy and Ed Martin. The community grand opening events were held April 18.

Before dinner, 115 people toured the 18,000-square-foot building that houses the workout/erg room for the UCO women's rowing team, live music venue, offices, the Martha Burger Art Gallery and the C. Hubert Gragg Shell Gallery, where the boats are stored.

The Park House group catered dinner, which was beet salad, roasted chicken and poached salmon, with orzo, and mini-desserts of lemon squares, cream puff, chocolate brownie, macaroon and fruit tart. A signature Champagne cocktail (UCO colors gold with blue sugar rim) was served.

In the MidFirst Bank Performance Hall, the Midtown Men, four stars from the original cast of Broadway's "Jersey Boys," performed after dinner. The ACM@UCO Band also performed as guests arrived.

After the Midtown Men performed, guests went to the outdoor stage for a fireworks presentation.

At the event were Susanne and Don Betz, Melinda and Glen Johnson, Chris Reen, Ron White, Jeanette and Rand Elliott, Rob Neu, Lou Kerr, Marissa and Jeff Records, Susan and James Winchester, Judy and Tom Love, Sylvia and Robert Slater, Steve Lackmeyer, Sherry and Lee Beasley, Kathy and Mike Steffen, Rae and Hubert Gragg, Meg Salyer, Peggy and Ben Kates, Donna and George Nigh, Beverly and Mark Funke, Lee Allen Smith, Mike Turpen, Tempe and Mike Knopp, Joy Hoffmeister, Ann Lacy and Gordon Pennover.
