Luncheon forum: "Religion, Speech, Journalism and Terrorism"

The Dialogue Institute of the Southwest-Oklahoma City will host a luncheon forum at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 15, at the Raindrop Turkish House, 4444 N Classen.

Entitled “Religion, Speech, Journalism and Terrorism,” the event will feature a keynote presentation by David Perlmutter (pictured), Ph.D., dean of Texas Tech University College of Media and Communication.

In addition to his post at Texas Tech, Perlmutter is the author or editor of nine books on political communication and persuasion and has written several dozen research articles for academic journals as well as more than 250 essays for newspapers and magazines in the United States and abroad. Perlmutter has been interviewed by most major news networks and newspapers, from the New York Times to CNN, ABC, and The Daily Show.

Ersin Demirci, executive director of the Dialogue Institution of the Southwest-Oklahoma City, said Perlmutter’s presentations may be of particular interest to journalists and journalism students, although his topic also is relevant for the community at large.
